UFC-283,-Deiveson-Figueiredo-vs-Brandon-Moreno

UFC 283 goes down this weekend at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The co-main event features the fourth flyweight title fight between Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno.

The first fight between the two ended in a draw at UFC 256 after Figueiredo was deducted a point due to a groin strike. They rematched at UFC 263, where Moreno steamrolled the Brazilian, submitting him in the third round in a one-sided fight. ‘Daico’ bounced back in the trilogy at UFC 270, reclaiming his title with a unanimous decision win over his arch-rival. The fourth fight is all about bragging rights.

UFC 283: Figueiredo vs Moreno 4 Analysis And Prediction

Figueiredo hasn’t fought since reclaiming his title, whereas Moreno beat Kai-Kara France to win the interim flyweight title at UFC 277. The reigning champion is a hard-hitting striker with exceptional submission skills. He’s a fast starter who tends to slow down in later rounds, although he showed improvements in his last fight. Moreno is a very well-rounded fighter as well, who combines crisp boxing with excellent wrestling. He’s also tough as nails, and has great endurance.

‘God of War’ will surely hope for a repeat of his last fight, where he avoided most grappling exchanges and kept the fight on the feet, where he has the technical edge. Moreno will look to overwhelm him as he did in their second fight. It all comes down to who manages to execute their game plan.

Both fighters are very even statistically. Figueiredo lands a little over three significant strikes per minute on average, whereas Moreno lands a little over three and a half. Defensively, Moreno absorbs a little over three significant strikes per minute on average, whereas Figueiredo absorbs over three and a half. In grappling, both land nearly the same amount of takedowns per 15 minutes (1.5) with almost the same degree of accuracy (a little over 40%). Figueiredo’s submission average is way higher, however.

All in all, we should expect another close contest. Both fighters will have their moments but Figueiredo will get his hand raised on the night by another closely contested decision.
