Michael Bisping believes Tom Aspinall has the skills to defeat UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in a potential fight.

Aspinall earned the biggest win of his career this past weekend at UFC London, where he submitted Alexander Volkov in the first round. The Manchester native took control of the fight from the start, landing crisp boxing combinations and getting inside of the Russian’s height and reach advantage to take him down at will, submitting him with a straight armbar with time to spare in the first round.

In his post-fight interview, Aspinall called out Tai Tuivasa, who entered the heavyweight top-five with a huge knockout victory over Derrick Lewis at UFC 271. With Ngannou expected to remain on the sidelines after undergoing major knee surgery last week, a fight between the Brit and the Aussie could act as a potential title eliminator.

Michael Bisping On Tom Aspinall

If Aspinall continues his winning ways in the UFC, it is very likely that he will cross paths with Ngannou, and if he does, Bisping believes he has a solid chance of beating the Cameroonian, he said while speaking on his YouTube channel.

“I’m not saying right here, right now, that [Tom Aspinall] beats Francis Ngannou,” Bisping said. “I’m saying there’s a really good f***ing chance he beats Francis Ngannou. I mean, if it stays on the feet and Ngannou, we know. I don’t need to finish the sentence. I don’t even need to finish that he is extremely dangerous. But the well-roundedness of him I think just sets him apart from everyone else.”

Not only is Aspinall an exceptional grappler, but he’s also a very talented boxer thanks to his sparring sessions with boxing phenom Tyson Fury in 2015. ‘The Gypsy’ King believes his compatriot has the skills to achieve big things in MMA and boxing, and Bisping fully agrees with him.

“Tom could go into boxing and dominate there as well, you know. It’s unbelievable how talented he is,” Bisping said.
