UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira has given his thoughts on his title fight against Dustin Poirier, expected to take place at UFC 269 in December.

Oliveira won the vacant title by finishing Michael Chandler in the second round at UFC 262 in May, while Poirier beat McGregor by a doctor’s stoppage in their trilogy fight at UFC 264 in July to cement his place as the number one contender.

Earlier this week, various media outlets reported that the two have verbally agreed to fight at UFC 269, although no contracts have been issued yet. Poirier also took to Twitter to hint that things are moving in the right direction.

No Contracts Signed Yet

Speaking to Sherdog, Oliveira confirmed that he hasn’t signed the contract yet, but negotiations are ongoing.

“Everybody is publishing that Poirier is going to fight with me,” Oliveira said. “But until that moment, it’s still under negotiation, I didn’t sign any contract yet.”

‘Do Bronx’ said that he expects to fight in December and will be ready to face anyone the UFC puts in front of him, including Poirier.

“Today I’m not worried about who said bad things about me, or who I’m gonna fight against,” Oliveira said. “My main concern is be ready to face any challenger [the] UFC chooses, and that’s what I’m gonna be in December, against Poirier or any other.”

Prediction For Poirier Fight

When asked how he thinks his expected fight against Poirier plays out, Oliveira said that he will submit ‘The Diamond’.

“Poirier is one of the most dangerous guys of the lightweight division,” Oliveira admitted. “[He] always walks forward, but I think I’m at a different level, both in striking and also in the ground. I would submit Poirier.”

Charles Oliveira or Dustin Poirier, who do you think gets his hand raised in their expected title fight at UFC 269?
