UFC Vegas 35 went down on Saturday night at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas. In the main event, Giga Chikadze finished Edson Barboza in the third round after a back-and-forth featherweight contest to earn the biggest win of his career. In his post-fight interview, the Georgian said that he’d love to be a reserve for the upcoming title fight between champion Alex Volkanovski and Brian Ortega at UFC 266 next month. He also called out Max Holloway.
In the co-main event, Bryan Battle overcome early adversity to win The Ultimate Fighter season 29 middleweight final by submitting Gilbert Urbina in the second round.
Elsewhere on the UFC Vegas 35 main card, Ricky Turcios defeated Brady Hiestand by split decision to win the TUF 29 bantamweight final, Daniel Rodriguez ruined Kevin Lee’s second go at welterweight by beating him via unanimous decision, Andre Petroski finished Michael Gillmore in the third round, and Gerald Meerschaert, the biggest underdog on the card, pulled off one of the biggest upsets of 2021 by beating the highly-touted Makhmud Muradov by third round submission.
