Ciryl Gane has sent out a stern warning to former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones ahead of their vacant heavyweight title fight this weekend at UFC 285.

Jones will make his return to the Octagon after spending three years on the sidelines. He last fought at UFC 247 in 2020, when he beat Dominick Reyes by a controversial decision to defend his light heavyweight title, which he vacated later in the year. A lot has changed since then, with several old faces like former heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou leaving the promotion and modern-day heavyweights like Gane setting new standards.

What hasn’t changed is Jones’ hunger for more, and after having dominated the light heavyweight for over a decade, he now wants to conquer the toughest division in all of MMA by capturing the heavyweight title at UFC 285.

During the UFC 285 Countdown (as transcribed by BJPenn.com) however, Gane said that Jones’ dream of capturing the heavyweight crown won’t come true.

“I’ve got really good footwork, I can move very well for any heavyweight, and everybody knows that,” Gane said. “I’m going to have an advantage because I’m going to be fast. I can’t wait to fight against this guy. I’m going to finish him. Jon Jones, your time is done.”

Gane is an exceptional kickboxer, who is very light on his feet and has the tools to give Jones a run for his money. However, the MMA legend believes he has fought better strikers in the past, and that ‘Bon Gamin’ won’t be a tough challenge for him.
