Khamzat Chimaev has given his thoughts on potential fights with Gilbert Burns and Stephen Thompson.
Chimaev made his return to the Octagon last October at UFC 267 after a one-year lay-off, submitting Li Jingliang in the first round without breaking a sweat. The Chechen-Swede’s name has been linked to Gilbert Burns, and while the fight hasn’t materialised yet, he is certainly willing to take on the Brazilian next.

Speaking on his YouTube channel (as transcribed by MMA Junkie), Chimaev said that although he likes Burns as a person, he’d show no mercy to him in a potential fight.
“Everybody is talking about me, but nobody wants to fight with me because we kill everybody,” Chimaev said. “For me, it doesn’t matter. Gilbert Burns talked about Brazil. I’m more Brazilian than him because my coach is Brazilian. I’m a blue belt under Alan ‘Finfou’ [Nascimento]. I know many times my coach smashed [Burns], too, on the mats.
“We are going to choke him out. A ‘Finfou’ blue belt against a black belt. I like this guy, actually. He’s a funny, nice guy. I want to fight with him. But in war, brother, I can’t be nice with somebody. I want to eat everybody. Take my money. Take my belt. I’m so hungry. When I talk about fighters, I’m hungry.”
Warning To Stephen Thompson
Thompson has also expressed his willingness to fight Chimaev, but ‘Borz’ warned ‘Wonderboy’ against fighting him, saying that he doesn’t have the skill set to cause him any sort of problems.
“He said maybe I’m gonna fight with him in future. Like this s***, brother are you sure? Your skills, your level, like, is weak,” Chimaev said. “If Belal [Muhammad] hold you down, brother I can put you under the cage brother. I don’t know these guys, how they think they will win against me. 10 fights, 10 finishes. And I didn’t lose one second in the fight. I beat everybody. These guys don’t know I’m coming for them. The real money is here Dana White.”
