Khamzat Chimaev and Paulo Costa have already started promoting their middleweight contest, which is set to take place at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi in October.

Chimaev hasn’t competed since UFC 279, where he made a mess of his welterweight main event against Nate Diaz by missing weight by almost eight pounds. He was subsequently demoted to the co-main event, where he faced Kevin Holland in a 180-pound catchweight bout.

Following the controversy, ‘Borz’ moved up to middleweight, and after more than a year of waiting on the sidelines, he will get his hands on the undisputed king of memes, Paulo Costa at UFC 294.

Last week, Costa fired the first shot at Chimaev, posting a doctored image of him twerking with the caption that said “haram,” an Arabic word that translates to “any act that is forbidden by God”.

Chimaev returned the favor by posting Costa getting ‘dry humped’ by Israel Adesanya with the same caption.

In a separate interview, Chimaev said that he plans on smashing Costa, making some money, and then going back home. He also believes that Brazilians will be supporting him since they don’t like ‘Borrachinha’.

“What can we expect from you in Abu Dhabi? Smash somebody. Make money. Go home. In Brazil, nobody likes him,” Chimaev said while speaking to TNT Sports. “All the Brazilians support me. That guy is not Brazilian. So I’m going to go smash this guy, make him cry.”

Should Chimaev put his money where his mouth is, he will likely be the next in line to fight for the belt once Dricus Du Plessis gets his shot at champion Israel Adesanya.
