UFC 282: Pimblett vs Gordon Analysis And Prediction

Both Pimblett and Gordon are well rounded. The Brit brings in an all-action style. He’s extremely aggressive both on the feet and on the mat, but grappling is certainly his strength. Gordon can maintain a high pace with crisp boxing and exhibits great wrestling skills as well. Pimblett’s biggest weakness is his striking and he has been cracked in two of his last three fights, but his ability to turn the tables on his opponents is incredible. Gordon doesn’t have heavy hands, but the Liverpudlian will still need to be careful.

Statistically, Pimblett and Gordon are very even. Pimblett lands a little over four significant strikes per minute on average, whereas Gordon lands a little over five. Pimblett absorbs three significant strikes per minute on average, whereas Gordon absorbs a little over three. Both fighters land almost the same amount of takedowns per minute (close to two) and have a similar accuracy (40 percent and 39 percent respectively). What sets Pimblett apart however is his ability to submit his opponents. He averages close to five submissions per 15 minutes and is always looking for a finish.

Gordon is a tough test for Pimblett, but expect the UFC’s self-proclaimed cash cow to finish the job early.
