Sean O’Malley says he wasn’t impressed with Marlon Vera’s performance in his unanimous decision victory over Davey Grant this past weekend at UFC Vegas 29.

More than five years after their first fight, which Grant won by unanimous decision, Vera showed how much he’s improved, as he cut open the tough Brit with a series of nasty inside elbows, and poured on the punishment to earn a hard-fought decision victory.

The back and forth bantamweight battle between Vera and Grant took the ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus at UFC Vegas 29. In his post-fight interview, ‘Chito’ called out Dominick Cruz

‘He Looked Slow’

Speaking on his YouTube channel (as transcribed by BJPenn.com) however, O’Malley said that Cruz wouldn’t want to fight Vera after his mediocre performance against Grant.

“What I took from that fight is f**k, Davey Grant’s a tough motherf***er, dude,” O’Malley said. “That is ‘Chito’s’ style, just gets beat up for a little bit, and then people get tired of beating him up, and then he comes on in the later rounds.

“But, yeah, I took an edible so I was really high but I was trying to fast forward like is this in slow motion? He looked so slow. Who does he have next? He called out Dominick, will he get that, no. Dom already said he’s trying to fight up.”

Vera is the only man to beat O’Malley in a professional MMA fight. The two fought at UFC 252, where the Ecuadorian got the ground and pound finish in the first round after ‘Suga’ got drop foot after eating a nasty kick early on.

O’Malley has since been calling Vera’s victory a ‘fluke’, claiming that he’s mentally still undefeated. However, he has shown little interest in a rematch.

Do you think Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera should run it back?
