Former UFC star Nate Diaz has come to Dana White’s defense against critics of the UFC’s fighter compensation model.
Diaz, who fought out his contract at UFC 279, has since transitioned to boxing and he’s now gearing up to box Jorge Masvidal this Saturday, a year after his defeat to Jake Paul in his boxing debut last year. Alhough the Stockton native is focused on boxing for now, he hasn’t ruled out a UFC comeback since he was one of the higher paid fighters in the promotion.
Not every UFC fighter earned as much as Diaz, however. Many, including Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones, have complained about the UFC pay structure in the past.
Diaz thinks the criticism is unfair.
During a recent chat on the ALL THE SMOKE podcast, Diaz talked about why he thinks the complaints about how the UFC pays its fighters are exaggerated.
“I don’t think people have the concept of what money is and how much,” Diaz said. “I think Dana White gets a f***ing bad rap. I’m not giving him a good one, but bro, he’s paying a lot more people a lot more money than f***ing people think. I just don’t think people know what’s what…
“I want more money, too. Give those motherf***ers some more money, give me more money too. But he’s paying a lot of people a lot of money, more than the boxing
