MacKenzie Dern has explained why she wants to fight former two-time UFC strawweight champion, Rose Namajunas.

Dern bounced back into the win column with a dominant victory against Angela Hill at UFC Vegas 73, where she displayed improvements in striking and takedowns as well as technical prowess. The Brazilian even stunned the American with a knee in the third round but ‘Overkill’ managed to survive, only to lose by scores of 49-44, 49-44, and 49-43.

MacKenzie Dern On Rose Namajunas

During the UFC Vegas 73 post-fight press conference, Dern called for a title eliminator against Namajunas.

“For sure, I follow her [Namajunas] on social media and stuff, and I saw her do an ADCC regional [tournament] or something like that,” Dern said. “I’m a former ADCC champion, so I’m always happy seeing the MMA girls doing jiu-jitsu. But, for sure, fighting Rose is a priority of mine right now at this moment. I think it would be a great fight, a main event and a good test for both of us. So when I see her training her jiu-jitsu, I’m like, ‘Yeah, that’s not going to be an easy fight,’ but I think it could be a great fight for the public, and for us.”

Namajunas last fought at UFC 274, where she lost to Carla Esparza by decision, and her fighting future is pretty much up in the air right now.

In case Namajunas doesn’t want to fight her, Dern said that she’d love to rematch Yan Xioanan, who has a majority decision win against her.
