PFL founder Donn Davis believes that Patrick ‘Patchy’ Mix is better than Sean O’Malley in terms of skill and ability.
During the 2023 PFL Championship post-fight press conference, Davis was asked about a potential fight between the UFC bantamweight champion and Mix, who is part of the Bellator roster acquired by the PFL last week.
Davis responded to the questions by saying that Mix has âgot better fightingâ than OâMalley.
âPatchy Mix could beat âSugaâ,â Davis told reporters. âHe doesnât have the hair, but heâs got better fighting. I think that most people think that thatâs a good fight or that Patchy is a slight favorite, but itâs a damn good fight.â
In a separate interview with TMZ Sports, Mix expressed confidence in his ability to defeat OâMalley or any other bantamweight in MMA for that matter.
âI believe deep down, full-heartedly, in my heart of hearts, I actually know I am the best bantamweight in the world,â Mix said. âDifferent styles, and I can strike too. Iâm very good on the feet, as well. Iâm just as tall as [OâMalley]. Just as long as him,â Patchy said. âI just believe Iâm better than him. I think I could finish him within 2.5 rounds. I donât think heâd really have much for me.â
O’Malley is set to defend his title against Marlon Vera at UFC 299 in March next year. In his last bout at UFC 292, he secured the bantamweight championship by knocking out Aljamain Sterling in the second round.
Mix became the Bellator bantamweight champion by submitting Sergio Pettis at Bellator 301.
