Former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell is down for a bare-knuckle fight, but only if he’s paid a good amount of money.
Liddell was part of a special commentary team doing an alternate broadcast on FITE TV for BKFC 19, headlined by former UFC fighters Paige VanZant and Rachael Ostovich.
Bare Knuckle FC has also featured several other notable MMA fighters, such as Artem Lobov, Jason Knight, Joe Riggs, Bec Rawlings, and Hector Lombard.
Show Him The Money
During the BKFC 19 broadcast (as transcribed by MMA Fighting), Liddell was asked by his co-host about a possible crossover to bare knuckle fighting, to which he said that he’s open to the idea as long as the money and opportunity were right for him.
“It would all have to depend,” Liddell said. “We’d have to talk about it. Yeah, if they pay enough money, sure. It all depends on what they come up with. We can talk about it. If they’re interested come and talk to me.”
Liddell retired from MMA in 2010, but made a brief return in 2018 to complete his trilogy with long-time rival Tito Ortiz at Golden Boy Promotions: Liddell vs Ortiz 3, where he lost by knockout in the first round. ‘The Ice Man’ announced his retirement again last March.
Like bare knuckle fighting, boxing is increasingly attracting MMA superstars as well. Last month, former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva shocked the world by beating Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, and is now expected to fight Logan Paul. Meanwhile, Vitor Belfort is set to fight Oscar De La Hoya on September 11th.
In May, Liddell tweeted that he’s interested in fighting the ‘clown’ Jake Paul, who has been making a lot of noise in the MMA world, and is set to face Tyron Woodley in a professional boxing match on August 28th.
Liddell later made a U-Turn however, saying that the polarising YouTube star is not good enough to fight him.
