Jan Blachowicz is ready to welcome former UFC middleweight champion Alex Pereira to light heavyweight.
Pereira most recently fought at UFC 287, where he lost his middleweight title to Adesanya after getting knocked out cold in the second round. Despite the fact that two fighters are tied at 1-1 in mixed martial arts, the UFC doesn’t seem very keen on a trilogy. The Brazilian recently announced that he will move up to light heavyweight, where athletes like Jiri Prochazka and Jamahal Hill are more than willing to fight him.
Jan Blachowicz On Alex Pereira
During a recent appearance on Ariel Helwani’s YouTube channel (as transcribed by MMA News), Blachowicz said that he’d also love to fight Pereira.
“[Pereira’s] a big guy,” Blachowicz said. “So, we will see how he’s gonna make it at 205. This is something I would also like to see because he is very big. He has knockout punch power. [But] nobody knows how good he is on the ground. We will see if someone takes him down, how he’s going to look.
“We will see what he’s gonna do. Maybe he wants to stay in this category [middleweight] and try to take the belt back. I don’t think about him right now, but I think yeah, why not [fight him]? I like challenges [and] he’s a very big challenge. This fight will also be very big, very great. So, why not? But we will see what’s gonna be his next move.”
Blachowicz last fought Magomed Ankalaev for the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 282, where their fight ended in a split draw.
