UFC Fight Island 2 went down on Saturday night on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The third fight night on Fight Island saw Deiveson Figueiredo and Joseph Benavidez face off in the main event, with the vacant UFC flyweight title on the line.

After their first fight ended controversially earlier this year at UFC Norfolk, there was nothing controversial about the rematch. After dominating the first round, dropping Benavidez three times, Figueiredo secured the rear naked choke to win the vacant UFC flyweight title.

In the UFC Fight Island 2 co-main event, Jack Hermansson needed less than 90 seconds to beat Kelvin Gastelum. After being taken down, ‘The Joker’ was able to sink in a heel hook to get his hand raised.

Speaking to the media after the main event, UFC president Dana White announced that Deiveson Figueiredo and Ariane Lipski had been awarded the Performances of the Night bonus awards, with Rafael Fiziev vs Marc Diakiese had been awarded the Fight of the Night.
