Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad

UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards is contemplating a potential matchup with Belal Muhammad, whom he refers to as the ‘least intimidating’ challenge.

Edwards defended his welterweight title against Colby Covington at UFC 296, where Muhammad served as the backup. The long-time 170-pound contender has been campaigning for a title fight ever since, especially because of the history between the two fighters. The American and the Brit competed for the first time in 2021 when their fight ended in a no-contest due to an accidental eye poke.

Muhammad, who is currently on a 10-fight unbeaten run, most recently defeated Gilbert Burns in May, and he thinks he deserves to fight for the belt. While the champion initially denied Belal a title shot, it seems the fight is indeed a possibility.

Edwards recently revealed on social media that he’s gearing up to go head-to-head with Muhammad in his upcoming bout. He shared that discussions have already taken place with the promotion about making the fight happen.

LOL, Belal calm down, son, you’re the least intimidating person in the organization. I already told UFC I don’t mind, I’ll fight you next, that’s easy work. You just have to figure out why they hate you so much.

Edwards’ tweet was in response to Muhammad’s tweet that said: “Leon’s opinion doesn’t matter… his coach doesn’t matter… the only person I care about is Dana and he gave me his word… that’s all that matters … we’re next and the fact that they’re showing fear only gives me more confidence… you should be afraid.”

Who do you think would win between Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad?
