Jan Blachowicz believes he is the most deserving of a title shot against UFC light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira.
At UFC 291, Blachowicz and Pereira had a closely-contested battle, with ‘Poatan’ coming out on top with a split-decision victory. The victory earned the Brazilian a vacant 205-pound title fight against Jiri Prochazka at UFC 295, where the former kickboxer knocked his opponent in the second round.
In his most recent fight, Pereira defended his title by knocking out Jamahal Hill in the first round at UFC 301.
In a recent interview with Fanatics View, Blachowicz said that since he gave Pereira his toughest fight at light heavyweight, he deserves to fight for the belt.
“He is not a better fighter than me, and I believe that I deserve the rematch,” Blachowicz said. “When he fight against me, I still believe that I won this fight. (Judges) see different scores, but I believe that I won this fight against him, and I believe that I deserve the rematch. He knocked out everybody – not me. When I come back, I believe that I can fight against him one more time.”
If not him, then Blachowicz wants Pereira to test himself against Magomed Ankalaev.
“I want to see Pereira against Ankalaev because this is the hardest opponent for him right now,” Blachowicz said. “Because I’m not in the division because I’m out for a couple more months. He is the most dangerous fighter for him.”
