Israel Adesanya has responded following a callout from the newly crowned UFC middleweight champion, Dricus Du Plessis.
Du Plessis challenged Sean Strickland at UFC 297, where he won by a razor-close decision after five-rounds of war.
In the post-fight speech, Du Plessis wasted no time in calling out Adesanya for their eagerly awaited potential showdown.
“I’m really enjoying this,” DDP said pointing to his UFC title belt. “I would love… There was another guy who tried to take my shine. He lost his shine and now I have your shine. He didn’t get into the cage tonight, but Israel Adesanya, get your ass back in the UFC so we can settle the score.”
Initially slated for a clash at UFC 293, DDP withdrew due to a leg injury. As a result, Adesanya took on Strickland.
Despite widespread expectations that ‘Stylebender’ would effortlessly defeat ‘Tarzan’ and set the stage for a future encounter with DDP, Strickland ruined the party by dismantling the champion. However, Izzy and Du Plessis’ stars are aligning again.
In quick response to DDP’s callout, the ex-middleweight champion promptly shared his thoughts on ‘X,’ previously recognized as Twitter.
