Make no mistake about it, BKFC cruiserweight champion Hector Lombard is a fan of Jake Paul, but he doesn’t think the YouTuber has the courage to try bare knuckle fighting.
Paul has taken the professional boxing world by storm, and is now 3-0, with wins over fellow entertainer AnEsonGib, NBA superstar Nate Robinson and former Bellator and ONE Championship kingpin, Ben Askren. ‘The Problem Child’ is now set to face former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley on August 28th.
Lombard, an MMA veteran who is a former Bellator middleweight champion and has competed in the UFC among other promotions as well, now competes in the Bare Knuckle FC, where he most recently fought and beat Joe Riggs by doctor’s stoppage in the fourth round to win the cruiserweight title.
The 42 year old Cuban made headlines for all the wrong reasons, however, as he landed a couple of post-fight punches on his potential future opponent Lorenzo Hunt, who had approached him following his win.
Jake Paul’s Chances In Bare Knuckle Fighting
Speaking to MMA Junkie, Lombard said that Paul doesn’t have the guts to compete in bare knuckle fighting.
“I don’t think he’s ever going to have the balls to fight bare knuckle,” Lombard said. “This is a guy I’ve been supporting – Jake Paul – way before anybody. I remember when I said on my Instagram that Jake Paul was going to KO Ben Askren, a lot of people laughed at me. But Ben Askren sucks at boxing, so I was right. Jake Paul is a [good] athlete, but I don’t think he’s got the [guts] to ever take the gloves off and fight bare knuckle. I don’t think so. And he can prove me wrong.”
How do you think a bare knuckle fight between Hector Lombard and Jake Paul would play out?
