Daniel Cormier believes Tony Ferguson’s move to Jackson Wink MMA won’t make any difference as he feels the TUF season 13 winner is past his prime.
Ferguson, who used to be the scariest contender in the lightweight division not long ago, is currently riding a four-fight losing streak, with his most recent loss coming at the hands of Michael Chandler by a brutal front kick knockout at UFC 274. After the loss, ‘El Cucuy’ said that he needed to make some wholesome changes in his training to make his way back to the top, with his biggest need being a change in his training camp.
To that end, Ferguson has joined Jackson Wink MMA, which is home to the likes of Holly Holm and Michelle Waterson, and remained former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones’ training ground for over a decade before he was indefinitely suspended over legal issues last year.
Daniel Cormier On Tony Ferguson
Ferguson hopes to turn back the clock with his move to Jackson Wink MMA, but Cormier believes it won’t make much difference. Speaking on his DC & RC show on ESPN (as transcribed by BJPenn.com), ‘DC’ said that he believes the former UFC interim lightweight champion’s time has passed.
“Man, this is a bit of a tough one, right? Because I tap in on him chasing down that past greatness,” Cormier said. “I just don’t know if there’s any more of that, Ryan [Clark]. I just believe that we all have a time, like we all have a time. And I believe that time’s gone, I don’t believe that much is going to change for Tony Ferguson with the camp change. I just believe his time has passed, and no camp change is going to change that.”
