Ian Garry has claimed that Michael ‘Venom’ Page attempted to pressure one of his teammates into spilling confidential information about his training camp.
Garry and Page are set to feature on UFC 303’s main card this Saturday in Las Vegas, where the two welterweights will battle in a potential title eliminator, ahead of which, the tension between Garry and Page has been intensifying.
In fact, the Brit has allegedly gone a bit too far, according to the Irishman.
During the UFC 303 pre-fight press conference, Garry alleged that Page attempted to gain an unfair advantage by spying on his training camp.
“Did you and your team offer thousands of dollars to get information in Chute Boxe from my boys?” Garry asked Page. “Did you send someone a message and offer thousands of information, and yet couldn’t infiltrate the camp? You couldn’t! The Chute Boxe camp is too tight. Your Jiu-Jitsu coach offered money to one of my Brazilian friends, and you got nothing. Saturday night, you’re f***ed! All I know is you and your Jiu-Jitsu coach are getting suspended for life.”
At the press conference, Page neither confirmed nor denied the accusations, and there’s still no solid evidence to back it up.
Accusations of spying have come up among UFC fighters in the past. Jon Jones, for instance, dealt with similar claims before his bout against Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson at UFC 135.
