UFC lightweight contender Paddy Pimblett has expressed his desire to face Conor McGregor in the Octagon.
‘The Baddy’ most recently fought Tony Ferguson at UFC 296, where he won by a unanimous decision. Prior to that, he had been on a year-long hiatus due to an injury sustained in 2023. Currently, the Brit is aiming for a return to action in the summer.
Pimblett recently sat down for a chat with Rob Moore on his YouTube channel. During their conversation, they delved into Pimblett’s future aspirations and his ultimate dream fight against McGregor at Liverpool Football Club’s home ground, Anfield.
“Someone in Anfield [Stadium]. A dream fight, probably Conor lad because you’ll get paid more than anyone else fighting him.” Pimblett said. “So, I would probably have to say him. Anything can happen, lad, you know what I mean? So.
“Obviously, he’s a sniper. I would put him on his back and submit him. They might [want that fight], we’ll see in the future. You never know.”
Since joining the UFC in 2021, Pimblett has often drawn comparisons to McGregor, but that doesn’t guarantee a fight between the two, especially when the Irishman has business to settle with Michael Chandler following their ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ coaching stint.
McGregor hasn’t fought since his loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, but he hopes to make his comeback in the summer.
