Dana White reveals that Michael Chandler is willing to sit around and wait for former champ-champ Conor McGregor.
The much-anticipated clash between ‘The Ultimate Fighter 31’ coaches, Chandler and McGregor, was initially scheduled for the final quarter of this year. However, the bout had to be postponed due to the Irishman needing to undergo a mandatory six-month waiting period in the USADA testing pool.
Discussing various topics on the ‘Full Send Podcast,’ Dana shared his thoughts on McGregor’s comeback. However, he refrained from delving into specifics about the fight or disclosing the potential timeframe for McGregor’s return to the Octagon.
“He 100% fights next year,” Dana commented on ‘The Notorious’ comeback.
White neither confirmed nor denied the potential showdown between Chandler and McGregor, but he mentioned that it could happen whenever both fighters are ready.
“We will see,” Dana said. “I mean, we’ll see the timing of when it goes down. The good thing for guys like Chandler, and you know there’s a lot of s*** talk about fighter pay and all that other s***, you don’t see these guys hurrying up to fight…Chandler can hang out and wait for f***ing Conor.”
Dana also mentioned that timing is not a significant factor, especially for Chandler, as both men possess considerable star power.
“When you think about Chandler, Chander was fighting in f***ing Bellator, right,” Dana White said. “Now Chandler can just sit around and take his time, wait for Conor however long it takes. These guys are all in good positions [financially] to wait for the right time, the right fight.”
