Yair Rodriguez wants to inflict damage on newly-crowned UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria.
Before Topuria squared off against Volkanovski for the title at UFC 298, where he won by a cracking second-round knockout, he and ‘El Pantera’ had been throwing verbal jabs at each other, making it clear they’re not on good terms.
Topuria also made it clear that he wouldn’t give Rodriguez a chance at the title by saying that he wasn’t good enough. In fact, Topuria thinks none of the guys in the 145-pound division deserve a shot at his belt.
The UFC may have other plans, however, so all eyes will be on Rodriguez’s rematch against Brian Ortega in the co-main event at UFC Mexico City.
Speaking at the UFC Mexico City media day, Rodriguez was asked about Topuria and he didn’t have nice things to say about ‘El Matador’.
“I’ll love to f*** him up,” Rodriguez said. “I don’t want to fight him, I want to f*** him up, there is a f****** big difference on that, to make that clear. Wherever I see him, I will f*** him up… F*** this bitch, I don’t like him. He was just talking shit about me and I made fun of him on social media and he started f****** saying all kinds of shit so I kept on firing back, and that’s it. I don’t normally get into these kind of situations with anybody, I’m really respectful. This f*****g guy, I don’t really like him, I don’t like him, I don’t have to like him, I want to f*** him up, that is what I want to do. Yeah, that is what I think is next up for us, whoever wins the title is next.”
