Mayra Bueno Silva has fired back at Sean Strickland for his subtle jab at her vacant bantamweight title fight against Raquel Pennington at UFC 297.

Strickland is set to headline UFC 297 in Canada, where he will defend his bantamweight title against Dricus du Plessis, whereas in the co-main event, Bueno Silva will take on the former title challenger in a vacant bantamweight title fight.

In a recent Instagram post, ‘Tarzan’ revealed that he didn’t want to fight Du Plessis in Canada, before taking a subtle jab at the two women featuring in the co-main event.

“Well, Canada time to bring you all some freedom. Didn’t want to fight in Jan or in Canada but was asked to help a couple of ladies do their job.. and they call me sexist..”

During a recent interview with ESPN, Bueno Silva slammed Strickland for his remarks.

“Look, on paper, my fight with Raquel is not a good fight,” Mayra Bueno Silva said. “But on paper, Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis is a good fight? No. Sean talks too much. He thinks he is a big star, but he is not a big star. I believe my fight and Sean’s fight; one helps the other. On paper, two bad fights for fans. But when we enter the octagon, I do a good fight and Du Plessis does good fights, too. I don’t watch good fights from Sean Strickland. I don’t remember a good fight.”
