Matt Hamill has slammed former UFC light heavyweight champ and reigning heavyweight kingpin Jon Jones for his recent comments about his sole career loss.

In 2009, Jones was disqualified during the UFC’s Season 10 finale of The Ultimate Fighter for using illegal 12-6 elbows against Hamill. Referee Steve Mazzagatti stopped the fight and took a point away after Jones landed two illegal elbows. When Hamill couldn’t continue, Jones was handed a disqualification loss, which remains the only blemish on his record.

Nearly 15 years later, with a rule change legalizing 12-6 elbows set for November, Jones has asked UFC CEO Dana White to help remove the loss from his record. However, the Nevada Athletic Commission might oppose this, arguing that the elbows were illegal at the time, and Jones knowingly broke the rule. Effective November 1, 2024, these elbows will be permitted.

After Jones called for the decision to be overturned, Hamill requested a heavyweight rematch with Jones.

“Let’s cut this chase… Dana White. I know you’re desperate to get Jon Jones an undefeated record. I see how you want to profit from that! Is also why you bail him out of all the other things…” Hamill posted on Facebook. “How about a rematch?! I’ll be happy to fight him for a heavyweight title. If I beat him, I want a UFC belt. Let me know if Stipe Miocic backs out. I’ll take short notice, just remember he already lost to me.”

Hamill was told to stop ‘begging’ by one Facebook user and here is what he had to say in response.

“LOL, look it up bud. I was doing well at stand up until my arm got caught on canvas and broke my collarbone, I cannot escape from the bottom. That’s easy for him to hit me, not bad with one arm to defended. I asked for a rematch but he got trouble with USADA for steroids again and again. That’s a bummer, not a big fan of cheater. Thank you for your support. Woooooooooooooo.”

Does Matt Hamill deserve a rematch against Jon Jones?
