UFC commentator Joe Rogan has sent the fight world into a frenzy after speculating that the boxing match between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou was FIXED.

In October 2023, Ngannou made his boxing debut against Tyson Fury in a clash of titans, where the former UFC heavyweight champion pushed his foe to his absolute limit. The Cameroonian even scored a knockdown in the third round of the fight, yet lost by a closely-contested decision.

Critics, including Rogan, widely believed Ngannou deserved the win. Although Rogan didn’t initially explain why Fury was announced as the winner, he has now provided his reasoning.

“I thought he (Ngannou) won that fight,” Rogan said on his The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. “But, you know, they were setting up that [Oleksandr] Usyk fight. They were not gonna let — yeah, it just seemed like the fix was in a little bit. It was close enough that they could pull it off. You could go, ‘Okay, maybe. Maybe you could see him winning that,’ but I don’t think so. I thought Francis won it. A lot of people thought Francis won it.”

Although Ngannou suffered a defeat at the hands of Fury, the razor-close nature of the battle earned him another boxing match a few months later, when he faced Anthony Joshua but was knocked out cold in the second round.

Fury has also competed once following his controversial win against Ngannou, losing to Oleksandr Usyk in a clash of titans in May, 2024.
