Leon Edwards Talks About Covington And Edwards

Geoff Neal has revealed he found the Leon Edwards vs. Colby Covington bout at UFC 296 boring and stopped watching in the fourth round.

Chaos aimed fiery remarks at his opponent during the press conference, but he couldn’t back them up in the cage as Edwards controlled the fight throughout, defending his welterweight title with ease and winning over all three judges with a score of 49-46 in his favor.

Despite Leon’s clear victory, Neal wasn’t impressed with either the champion or the challenger’s performance.

“I mean, I was low-key disappointed,” Neal said during a recent appearance on The MMA Hour. “I was expecting a more competitive fight. More action. I wanted to leave in the fourth round. I was watching at Buffalo Wild Wings, and I was about to just get up and leave in the fourth round, but I didn’t know what was going on with Colby. He wasn’t trying to press the action, and then Leon was being really passive. I feel like I beat both of those dudes. I didn’t see anything special out of either one of them.”

With Colby out of the equation, Neal’s past opponents Belal Muhammad and Shavkat Rakhmonov are the frontrunners to face Edwards for the belt next, and ‘Handz of Steel’ thinks the former deserves it more.

“I don’t know if he can beat Leon, but I know he deserves the next title shot,” Neal said about Muhammad. “Like all this other s***, people talking down on him, saying he’s a boring fighter. He earned it. He’s won 10 straight after his loss to me? Give that boy what he worked for, and then after he gets the belt, I’ll go up there and I’ll beat him up again.”
