Colby Covington has called out newly-crowned UFC welterweight champion, Belal Muhammad, by warning him of a total blowout if and when they fight.
Muhammad claimed the undisputed welterweight title this past weekend, defeating Leon Edwards by unanimous decision at UFC 304 in Manchester, England. The Palestinian-American earned praise from almost everyone in the MMA community, but Covington, who called the fight and the new champ’s win ‘boring’.
In a recent interview with Submission Radio, Covington called out Muhammad for a grudge match, boldly claiming that he would do mean things to him in the cage.
“The guy’s a f***ing p****,” Covington said. “The only time that (Belal) wanted to fight me was when I already had a title fight signed, sealed and delivered. That’s the only time he’s wanted to fight me, otherwise he’s never said my name because he’s a little bitch. He knows what I would do to him. If I cross paths with him, he won’t be champion anymore. He won’t be a man anymore. I will take his man card. … I’d love to fight him. I hope that fight happens. I’ll do whatever it takes to get to that.”
Covington and Muhammad have been at odds for some time, with both fighters exchanging verbal jabs whenever possible. A showdown between them would undoubtedly be a thrilling spectacle, but the real question is whether the UFC believes ‘Chaos’ deserves another shot at the title.
