Ben Askren has clapped back at Paige VanZant after the former UFC strawweight called him a ‘wrestler’ and not a ‘fighter’.
VanZant is preparing to compete against OnlyFans model Elle Brooke for the Misfits Boxing women’s middleweight title on May 25th. Following her announcement of returning to fighting, VanZant has been actively engaging with the media. Recently, she went back and forth with Dillon Danis, who claimed that he was in a relationship with PVZ a few years ago.
Apart from Danis, ’12 Gauge’ has also angered former Bellator and ONE Championship welterweight title holder, Askren.
In a recent interview ahead of her Misfits Boxing match, VanZant was asked for her thoughts on Askren’s skills as a fighter and here is what she said:
“Not a fighter, he’s a wrestler.”
Askren wasted no time in responding to VanZant’s remarks.
“It really wasn’t worth my response,” Ben Askren said in a tweet. “But I appreciate you reminding her that my career was significantly better than hers. I have a record that she can only dream.”

Though Askren’s UFC stint was underwhelming, he remained undefeated prior to UFC, holding titles in ONE and Bellator and dominating most of his opponents inside the cage.
VanZant, a former UFC contender, on the other hand competed nine times in the UFC, with 5 wins and 4 losses, failing to reach championship level despite having the potential to do big things in the sport.
Do you agree with Paige VanZant?
