For UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad, one title is not ENOUGH anymore.

Muhammad won the welterweight title at UFC 304 by dominating Leon Edwards, after years of battling the top fighters in the 170-pound division. ‘Remember The Name’ earned his shot at gold by taking on tough contenders like Gilbert Burns and Stephen Thompson among others.

Now, as the newly crowned champ, he feels he’s already cleared out the welterweight division. Muhammad believes that with just a title defense or two, he could move up to middleweight and chase a second belt.

“Well, I’ve beaten this guy, this guy, and this guy,” Muhammad stated in a recent interview with Grind City Media. “When I beat [Vicente] Luque, he was on a seven-fight winning streak… He weighed in as a backup [for a title fight]. When I beat Gilbert Burns, he was on a two-fight winning streak. He was the number one contender [at the time]… Sean Brady was 15-0 when I beat him, all these guys had big wins, huge wins. It tells me that I’ve got maybe two fights [left] and then I can start talking about double-champ status. I’ve already beat all these guys inside the top 10.”

Muhammad seems to have his next two title defenses lined up, with his top priority being Kamaru Usman, although he doesn’t mind locking horns with the undefeated, Shavkat Rakhmonov.
