UFC featherweight contender Diego Lopes has clapped back at Movsar Evloev’s tweet following his win at UFC 303.
Lopes snagged a win over Dan Ige at UFC 303’s co-main event in Las Vegas last Saturday. He was originally set to fight Brian Ortega, who unfortunately had to pull out due to fever. Despite the short-notice assignment, both men produced a cracking fight with Lopes taking the win by a unanimous decision to improve his winning streak to four fights in a row.
Following his win, Lopes’ former opponent Evloev, who beat him in his short-notice UFC debut at UFC 288, took a jab at him.
“Your biggest win in UFC is losing to me,” Evloev tweeted shortly after Lopes’s win.
During a recent segment on The MMA Hour, Lopes fired back by reminding the Russian of who has accomplished more in the promotion.
“What I’ve done in one year in the UFC, he hasn’t accomplished or will come even close to it,” Lopes said.
Since their UFC 288 bout, Lopes and Evloev have consistently been exchanging words. For instance, Lopes called Evloev a ‘decision man’ and challenged him to a rematch following his win at UFC 300.
The likelihood of the two men fighting again is higher than ever now since Lopes eyes UFC 306 in Las Vegas, while Evloev awaits his next bout.
Evloev is undefeated with 18 wins, and he recently beat Arnold Allen at UFC 297.
Do you think a rematch between Movsar Evloev and Diego Lopes makes sense?
