Kevin Holland has labelled UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya a ‘true loser’ for experiencing losses in boxing, kickboxing, and MMA.

Adesanya moved up to light heavyweight to challenge Jan Blachowicz at UFC 259 in a bid to become a double champ, but lost via unanimous decision. After the fight, arch-rival Jon Jones was quick to rub salt into ‘The Last Sylebender’s’ wounds, and Holland also didn’t let the opportunity pass when it came his way.

‘He Got Beat Everywhere’

During the UFC Vegas 22 pre-fight media scrum (as transcribed by BJPenn.com), Holland said that not only did Adesanya look slower than usual, but also said that he got beat everywhere.

“He said he didn’t try to put on weight, but I think he put on weight. He may have come in at 200 pounds, I think he did a normal weight cut which was smart,” Holland said. “It’s the smart thing to do, take it like you normally would take it. He looked a little slower than he normally does, right?

“Usually, he is faster than that, he didn’t look as fast. Am I wrong? I could be right here, right? He didn’t look as fast as he normally does. He got beat in the striking aspect, he got beat in the grappling aspect, he got beat.”

‘True Loser’

Despite currently holding an impressive 100-8 record in boxing, kickboxing and MMA, because he has at least one loss in each sport, Holland believes that makes him a ‘true loser’.

“In a lot of other sports if you are the champ and you lose, you are no longer the champ,” Holland stated. “Granted he moved up a weight class, but the dude lost. Is there any other fighters right now that has done just about every combat sport and lost in every combat sport. Is there? So I guess you can say he’s a true loser.”

Holland is coming off a spectacular knockout against ‘Jacare’ Souza at UFC 256, and is set to face longtime middleweight contender Derek Brunson in a high-stakes main event fight at UFC Vegas 22.
