Nate Diaz and Colby Covington have fired shots at Jorge Masvidal after his withdrawal from his UFC 269 fight against Leon Edwards due to injury.

Masvidal was forced to pull out due to an undisclosed injury, much to the disappointment of Edwards, who had long been waiting to put his hands on his arch-rival.

Edwards expressed his disappointment on Twitter, hinting that he will now sit around and wait for a title fight against UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.

“Disappointed but honestly I knew this fraud didn’t want to fight me anyway,” Edwards said. “He was just a stop off on the way to the title. The goal remains the same. Much needed family time now, Kamaru Usman, I will see you soon.”

Diaz, who lost to Masvidal by a doctor’s stoppage at UFC 244, also slammed ‘Gamebred’ in a tweet that was later deleted.

Covington further rubbed salt into Masvidal’s wounds, claiming to have predicted his former friend’s withdrawal beforehand.

With Masvidal out of the equation, Khamzat Chimaev and Belal Muhammad have offered to fight Edwards as both have a history with the Brit. ‘Borz’ was scheduled to face ‘Rocky’ thrice, but the fight was called off on all three occasions due to COVID.

Muhammad fought Edwards at UFC Vegas 21, when their fight was ruled a no-contest due to an accidental eye poke. Since then, ‘Remember The Name’ has been campaigning for a rematch.

Edwards is coming off a unanimous decision victory against Diaz in the promotion’s first-ever non title, non main event five round fight at UFC 263. While Masvidal most recently suffered a brutal second-round knockout loss to Usman in their title rematch at UFC 261.

With Jorge Masvidal out, who do you think Leon Edwards should fight next?
