UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman has given his thoughts on how he feels his rematch with Colby Covington will play out this weekend at UFC 268.

Usman fought Covington for the first time at UFC 245, where he finished his arch rival in the final minute in a close contest to make his first title defence. Since then, he has defended his belt thrice, two times against Jorge Masvidal, and against Gilbert Burns.

Kamaru Usman’s Prediction

During the UFC 268 media day (as transcribed by BJPenn.com), Usman said that his first fight against Covington was competitive only because he was emotional, but he won’t repeat the same mistake again.

“For me, the wrong that I want to right is in that fight, I fought with emotion. As much emotion I was willing to display is what I fought with, which is why I think I got hit quite a bit, but it was fun. I had fun,” Usman said. “That lets you know that I got a little mad man in me too. I don’t mind getting hit… I want to make it a little bit more flawless this time around.”

Should he beat Covington this weekend, Usman will likely put an end to their rivalry, but he doesn’t rule out the possibility of a trilogy.

“Now I’m in the business of pay-per-view,” Usman said. “I don’t know if I want him that far back. Of course, I want to go out there and stop him, but I want him to quickly make his way back so I can stop him again for a little bit more money.”

Who do you think will win the welterweight title fight between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington at UFC 268?
